Violence and Negativity
Books with content that include violence are often banned or censored. Some books have also been deemed too negative or depressing and have been banned or censored as well.
There are multiple events where violence and gruesome scenes occur. The first major act of this negativity is Marnes' death. It was shown after Jahn's death Marnes became increasingly depressed especially after another death of his good friend Holston. This burden eventually became too much for him and he was found in his room dead. With his belt, he committed suicide alone in his room.
When Juliette walked past the hill Silo 18 faced, she found piles of dead corpses gathered around and inside Silo 17 that she had to walk through. This is the negativity that may ban Wool. Gruesome images form in the imaginations of those unprepared and may sicken them.
Another significant act of violence occurs during the internal war inside Silo 18. When Supply and Mechanical attack IT, IT was unexpectedly prepared and the war suddenly turned favors. Gunshots and bombs broke out and did not stop for days though the actual attack lasted merely minutes. Blood was said to be dripping down the stairwell and bodies were scattered everywhere. The injured quickly tried to escape to safety while pursuers chased with guns. Casualties were much higher on the Mechanical and Supply's side than the accountable three of IT.
Though this may seem completely uncalled for and inappropriate on the surface, I, personally think it is necessary to build up the connection to this book. A reader will become more involved in the book as tragedies and disappointments occur. A book with this much potential would have been plain boring without the addition of violence breaking out and the negativity occurring.

Political Bias
Political Bias: Most Commonly occurs when books support or examine extreme political parties/philosophies such as: fascism, communism, anarchism, etc.
The message in the story of Wool is surprisingly deep and cleverly woven into a intriguing plot. Having a leadership based on love or fear, lies coated with comfort and security or plain honesty relying on trust in the people. As Hugh Howey mentioned, both of these systems have occurred in human history but both are not fully effective. I agree with his belief that we have the potential to bring out this perfect philosophy but it will take time. This is a form of political bias, having one form of society fail, and another take over while being highly favored by the people. Wool's message exposes multiple of our current government systems as guilty but we live in a country were all ideas are welcome and a book that delivers an idea should not be discriminated against.

Would you say there is a political message in Wool?
Yes, but I'm not sure if it takes as hard of a line as most people [think]. There are two competing philosophies in Wool: one is that people have to live under an iron thumb in order to survive, and the other one is that everyone should live completely freely and happily and everything will sort itself out. They've both been tried multiple times in human history and I think neither one really works.
I think there's something in between those two philosophies that is necessary, and it's up to us to figure it out. As a race, we're still trying to figure it out.
Age Inappropriate
These books have been banned or censored due to their content and the age level at which they are aimed. In some cases children's books are viewed to have "inappropriate" themes for the age level at which they are written for.
Wool contains content and language that may not be suitable to children not of age. But, I believe including vulgar language occasionally make the characters more human and replicate what would happen in reality in stressful situations. Hugh Howey understands this and does not attempt to censor or leave this content out.
